Marathon Man

We went to Dallas where Jason ran in his very first marathon.  He was so lucky to have cooperative weather with 15MPH winds, pouring rain, and a balmy 40degree temperature to run 26.2 miles!  John Hall was absolutely an angel about 90% of the time, and I have to say that suited me just fine!  However, with JH in tow, it limited some of our eating choices.  We chose to frequent LOUD places where no one would mind the level of noise he maintains on a regular basis.
We stayed close to the "Plaza of the Americas" where Jason went ice skating for the first time.  No, we didn't attempt getting out there with John Hall, but he had fun pretending to skate - lose control and run into walls - fall down in a dramatic ways imitating all the kids (and adults) we witnessed doing the same thing on the actual ice.

John Hall enjoyed our "bird's eye" view of downtown.  His favorite thing to watch was the "DART" train below.  We had planned to take him on the train on Monday, but it turned out there was a shooting on a train at one of the stations so I was glad we skipped that little field trip!
JH loves the aquarium, so we took him to a new one they just opened in Grapevine.  Every tank got the same excited response "Look at this, wow, Look, Look!!!"

...riding the escalator with Pop...
Swimming in the hotel tub while watching "the Fox and the Hound" while mommy got ready for Daddy's big race.
Given the chilly and wet conditions, waiting at the finish line was a ball of fun!  Here we are waiting for Jason to come around the corner and finish his race.

And he finally came around the corner!  We're so proud of Jason's huge accomplishment!  Way to go!

John Hall (with a little help) made a sign to cheer on daddy.

We took JH back to Texadelphia, a favorite of our's, and it was a hit!!!  We took him there on his first trip to Dallas, but he wasn't quite big enough to fully enjoy it.

At the airport, JH was super excited to catch a glimpse of a Shamu plane.  He had high hopes we would fly home in the whale, but it wasn't to be.  He covered every square inch of the gate.  I could see by the expressions on most passenger's faces, they were hoping we would chose to sit next to them (yea, right!!).  He has never been bad on a flight, so I didn't mind their pre-judging since I was "fairly" confident he would behave.  When we landed in Little Rock, a lady in the restroom came up to me and complimented him on how sweet he was during flight.

Here are his "sweet" smiles for the camera while sitting in his window seat!  Fun times!!!
Jason and JH had many conversations about what he would order as his refreshment from the flight attendant.  JH would always say he was going to ask for pretzels and lemonade.  They don't serve lemonade on Southwest, so he opted for Sprite instead.  Here he is enjoying his airline treat.
