Christmas in the Manger

John Hall was "reading" this book under the tree where I have all of his Christmas books.  It was so sweet so I ran and grabbed the nearest piece of technology to film him.  In case you can't understand what he is saying, here are the words to "Christmas in the Manger."

I am the star
that shines in the east,
I light the stable
for man and beast.

I am the donkey,
soft and gray,
I carried his mother
from far away.

I am the ram,
with my curly horn
I guard the stall
where the child is born.

I am the ox,
strong as steel,
before the only son
I kneel.

We are the shepherds
who watch the sheep,
tonight a holy watch
we keep.

We are the wise men,
gifts we bring
for baby Jesus,
our newborn king.

I am Mary,
the mother mild,
how I love
my tiny child.

I am the baby
asleep in the hay,
and I am the reason
for Christmas Day.

Sweet Son

"Between the innocence of babyhood and the diginity of manhood, we find the delightful creature of a boy."
If there ever is a tomorrow when we are not together, there is one thing you should always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think But the most important thing, even if we're apart, I will always be with you in the heart....Winnie the Pooh (and Mommy of course)

We Give Thanks

We hosted Thanksgiving at our house this year.  I love that I got to have everyone over for a "big" holiday!  We started the day with pumpkin spiced waffles, sausage balls, eggs, and bacon.  Then we each did the finishing touches on all the dishes and desserts everyone brought.  Jennifer and crew didn't come until later in the day, so there was some "patience" required from two little boys who were ready for their cousins to arrive for some serious play time.

The boys practiced patience by watching football, making forts, and playing phones/games....

Cookies, Pumpkin Pie, O'Henry Turkey pops, Pumpkin Cheesecake with caramel glaze.

We're so thankful for our many blessings and we were so happy to have spent it with our wonderful family.  Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Oh What a Beautiful Morning!

Today was a typical Monday for JH and me.  First thing, we ran to the front doorsteps to wave good-bye to daddy as he backed out of the drive.  Then JH noticed a snail in one of our flowerbeds, so he decided we needed to bring him inside to feed him a cucumber.  After the snail disappeared into his shell (probably didn't like getting shaken like dice) and wouldn't come out, John Hall informed me he had poopy pants (yes, still in diapers) and so it was off to his room for fresh britches.  While I was bagging the dirty diaper and carting it outside to the big trash can, JH was tending to Elmo's runny nose with the container of wipes I left in his floor.  We then decided to run to the grocery store.  I decided to go with my work-out look consisting of a baseball cap with a pony tail pulled through, whereas JH preferred his "En Fuego" paper crown he had gotten at lunch the day before.  Around 1:30, John Hall settled down for his daily nap and I all I could think was what a truly beautiful morning we enjoyed!

(John Hall said he was ready to put the snail back outside since he pooped on his lunch)

Lookin' Cool!

So, somebody was super proud of his Snoopy stickers he got in his Halloween loot.  He put a couple on his forehead Halloween night, slept in them, woke up delighted to see they were still there, and wore them for the entire day refusing to take them off...We did have to get rid of the black eye, although he wanted to keep that on as well.  He said his black eye made him look really cool...sigh!
