Thanksgiving 2010

We spent Thanksgiving in Texas with Jason's family. There was a big crowd, tons of yummy food, and lots of kids for John to play with!

I took the food pictures after everyone had gone through the line. Everything was so good!

I thought we might get a decent family picture, but somebody wasn't having any of that! He was out of sorts all day Thursday...
Here are some of JH's first and second cousins.
Jason with his sisters, Wendy and Alyson.
One of the my favorite things to do on Thanksgiving besides stuff myself silly, is to look at all the sale ads for black Friday. Obviously, I'm not alone in my interest of sale items! Wonder why there are no boys at this table?
To my embarrassment, John Hall is EXTREMELY jealous of little babies. Jason's cousin, Rhonna, brought her eight-month-old whom I had never seen and was anxious to hold. As soon as they walked in the door, I held her. I had her for all of a minute, and along came JH making it very clear that was NOT acceptable! He threw the BIGGEST fit on the floor. He not only didn't want me to hold her, but he didn't want Pop, Muddie, or Jason to have anything to do with her either. I sure hope he gets over this phase soon with all the babies we're around!
He loves older kids and enjoyed playing with all of them. He had his cousins, Khloe & Abby's, undivided attention all day.

Everyone relaxing and watching Thanksgiving football...

Medieval stretch the baby game!
(not really, they were swinging him. I just thought the pictures looked like JH was being tortured)

John eating up his female audience!

Rock-N-Roll San Antone

We, along with Muddie and Pop, spent the weekend in San Antonio for the Rock-N-Roll marathon race. Jason did great and ran his best time yet! We're so proud of him!

We flew from Little Rock to Dallas and then Dallas to San Antonio. It was JH's first time to fly and he was an angel. I have to admit I was so nervous about how his behavior might be on the plane. In my former life, I dreaded seeing babies on my flights. I thought I might get a little payback for that...We flew Southwest which has open seating. They seat group A and then allow families to board. It was funny seeing people's expressions when we were walking down the isle to find a seat. It was very clear, most of them were thinking to please let that family sit as far from me as possible, and I totally understand why they would feel that way. I'm sure being on such short flights and having a portable DVD player helped that good behavior along....

We took John Hall to the Children's Museum which was so cool! There was so much to do and he had a ball. We could have stayed there all day, but somebody needed a nap so the fun was cut short!

Muddie and Pop treated us to a riverboat tour. John Hall loved riding on the boat. He likes to shed his clothes and toss them all over the place. I was worried we might have a mishap with a shoe or hat, but thankfully we made it off with all his articles of clothing.
.
Nothing says culture like the Buckhorn museum! JH liked seeing all the stuffed animals and mainly being free to run around. We also went to the Texas Ranger's museum connected to the Buckhorn and that was actually pretty interesting. At least from what I saw in the brief moments I wasn't chasing John!
(Uncle Adam could sure help this guy!)
After the Buckhorn completely worn out!

Da-Dum....Da-Dum...Da-Dum
(that's my best attempt at spelling out the JAWS theme)
We took JH to the Bass Pro Shop figuring that would be right up his alley. Not a huge excitement factor for me personally, but he ate it up!

Whole Foods

One of my new favorite family outings is going to Whole Foods to grocery shop. On the weekends they have a grilling station outside of the store and usually have someone playing live music. I also love all the free food samples! John Hall likes to run around and climb on everything outside of the store. We spotted a butterfly and had loads of fun chasing him around.

Sushi cupcakes:
We went to a Razorback watch party and our assigned food item was something sweet for the kiddos. I got a wild hair and decided to make red velvet cupcakes. I had a vision of perfectly decorated cupcakes, but this is what I ended up with. I had to place them on a huge tray to spell out "Arkansas Razorbacks" but that left lots of empty space in the center of the tray. What better to fill it with than leftover Halloween candy?! It took FOREVER to make them and they looked awful...at least they tasted good! I thought the finished result resembled sushi rolls. I have decided I have no future in cake decorating. I have a friend, Amy, that makes the prettiest cakes. She must have the patience of Job! She made JH's birthday cake and stroller cake below...The other cakes are from various showers people gave us. I went ahead and put them on the post because it makes me smile to see them!
