Front Porch Surprise & Bundled Blue!

When we got home, we found this package on the front porch. A very talented friend, Jenifer, wanted to paint something for the nursery for a baby gift to us. She came over to look at the nursery and painted this….I cannot tell you how overwhelmed with excitement and disbelief that she would do this for me. It means so much that someone would take the time and effort that I know goes into something like this for me! I literally have tears in my eyes just typing this, and I don’t think it’s just the hormones! I really am so appreciative of this and think he is the cutest little puppy I have ever seen! Thanks to Jenifer! I love it!!!!
Also, Baby Cade is finally here! I got to see him when he was still so new he hadn’t had his first bath. What a privilege to get to see a baby so new and so precious! We wish Tonya and Kevin all the congratulations in the world!

Tiring Travels!

This weekend we decided to make the short trip to Branson. One of Jason’s partners offered to let us stay in his cabin and we always enjoy visiting this time of year b/c nobody is there. Coincidentally, Kelly & Michael were going to celebrate her birthday/anniversary and it was nice to meet up with them for dinner and shopping on Saturday. We went to eat at a place called Lambert’s that was named by the travel channel as the top place in America to pig out….and it is! They had never been there and were shocked at the amount of food. It was really good, but didn’t compare to the meal we had that evening at the Candlestick Inn. I still can’t believe how tasty everything was! As much fun as we had, I have to say the trip wiped me out!!! I never guessed that would be so tiring. When we got home we didn’t even unpack. We were in bed watching the “red carpet.” What old fogies we have become!!!!

Happy Birthday Jason!!!

First of all, happy belated birthday blog to Jason! On Wednesday of last week, I woke up determined to have a birthday post ready to go on the stroke of midnight for his birthday. What happened was I got to spend three hours on the phone with our internet helpdesk in which I spoke with THREE different representatives, two from India and one from Dallas. It was finally determined that our modem needed replacing and we would be without a computer for a while. So much for posting his special blog! But no worries, his birthday didn’t go uncelebrated. John Hall and I had a little birthday dinner, presents, and cards for him on Wednesday. On Thursday, we went to LR for a birthday party with my family where Jason got lots of great stuff (see picture….btw, my mom and dad got him a shirt and belt, but when I got around to taking the picture of all his stuff on Friday, he was wearing his new presents but you can see them in the picture of him opening gifts from his mom and dad)!!! Not surprisingly, he said his favorite present was the “where’s the poop” book! It’s a children’s book where you find different animals poop and at the end you find the human boy’s poop; pretty disgusting…but Jason loved it and can’t wait to use it as a potty training tool! Thanks a lot Adam & Kim for this wonderful addition to our literary library!!! On Friday, he received a package from his parents with presents that he loved. We went to dinner with friends on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday….so I would say Jason had a great birthday!!!

One last Hurrah!

I have been very lucky to have experienced this pregnancy with my friend, Tonya. We are exactly 8 weeks apart and her delivery is scheduled for Monday. We decided that we would take a day this week to have our favorite lunch and go get pedicures…she has to have pretty feet for little Cade’s arrival! We were lucky that Kevin and Jason got to join us for lunch….although Jason did something strange….he didn’t get the chicken fried steak????!!!! I made an attempt at cooking it last night and it tasted like most chicken fried steak does….I really don’t know what they do to theirs, but it is so unbelievably good!!!! I think I could eat it every day of the week. In fact, we all discussed how we could eat Holly’s chicken fried steak every day of the week. The pedicure was so nice and it makes such a difference with how you feel. There’s just something about having pretty toes! I will miss my pregnant pal, but I know she’s ready to get this over with and have her baby in her arms. This just means it will be no time at all when John Hall will make his appearance!
BTW – we didn’t mean to dress alike in our white shirts with black puff jackets. We shop together a lot, so that does happen from time to time.

Sir Jake-A-Lot

Today I went to see Jacob in his “Royal Ball” at his preschool. He was a knight in shining armor and was the most handsome/chivalrous one there! Ose, Pa, Me, Jacob’s mommy & daddy, Jacob’s other Grandparents, and Julia were all there to see him perform. He has lots of fans! He seriously did a good job and was rewarded by a lunch at his favorite restaurant, McDonald’s. Mom and I went over to Jacob’s house after lunch and we played cards with Jacob and Julia. Jacob won one game and Julia won two!!!
Also, the fabric for the shower curtain came in, so I took it to mom. Here is a sample of the fabric and trim….I am going to have a lampshade made similar to the one in the picture with the polka dot fabric and trim with his initial monogrammed onto the shade. Jason hung the puppy prints in the bathroom yesterday, and I think the fabric and prints go together great. It's all coming together!!! I'm sooooo excited!!!

Super Bowl

I look forward to the super bowl every year, but not because I am a fan of NFL football. I always look forward to visiting with “the girls” and the food that usually accompanies the game. This year was no different….I visited with friends all night and ate my weight in food. Yeah football!

Supper Surprise

This month’s supper club was a surprise for one of the couples who got married in December. They had a private ceremony and didn’t really want any fuss made over it, but we still couldn’t resist having a little shower to celebrate. Maddie got this beautiful cake that just happened to match my wrapping paper just perfectly…what are the odds of that???!!! Congrats Meredith and Frank; we wish you all the best!

Also, yesterday I was checking different blogs and came across an entry about a first trip to the pediatric dentist and you’ll never guess who that dentist was…. http://carterandlibby.blogspot.com/2009/01/first-trip-to-dentist.html
And....if you want to see why Kidd Kraddick is one of the top ten things I miss about Dallas, check out this blog entry that Kidd shared. Very good! http://www.kiddnation.com/profiles/blogs/tale-of-two-christian-schools
